Wynken Blynken and Nod by Eugene Feild (published1889) is one of my all time favorite poems. Above is a link to Disney's 1938 rendition of the story told in the poem. This poem, I believe captures the very spirit of childhood and weaves it into words that paint a picture as vivid as any story book.

Wynken, Blynken, and Nod one night
Sailed off in a wooden shoe---
Sailed on a river of crystal light,
Into a sea of dew.
"Where are you going, and what do you wish?"
The old moon asked the three.
"We have come to fish for the herring fish
That live in this beautiful sea;
Nets of silver and gold have we!"
Said Wynken,
Blynken,
And Nod.

The old moon laughed and sang a song,
As they rocked in the wooden shoe,
And the wind that sped them all night long
Ruffled the waves of dew.
The little stars were the herring fish
That lived in that beautiful sea---
"Now cast your nets wherever you wish---
Never afeard are we";
So cried the stars to the fishermen three:
Wynken,
Blynken,
And Nod.

All night long their nets they threw
To the stars in the twinkling foam---
Then down from the skies came the wooden shoe,
Bringing the fishermen home;
'T was all so pretty a sail it seemed
As if it could not be,
And some folks thought 't was a dream they 'd dreamed
Of sailing that beautiful sea---
But I shall name you the fishermen three:
Wynken,
Blynken,
And Nod.

Wynken and Blynken are two little eyes,
And Nod is a little head,
And the wooden shoe that sailed the skies
Is a wee one's trundle-bed.
So shut your eyes while mother sings
Of wonderful sights that be,
And you shall see the beautiful things
As you rock in the misty sea,
Where the old shoe rocked the fishermen three:
Wynken,
Blynken,
And Nod.

How to fold a fitted sheet!

I am aware how much of a loser it makes me that I am excited about this... but this is so frustrating to me when I am folding laundry... I hope this makes your life a little more easy so you can get through the chores more efficiently and get to the fun more quickly!

This lady may not be the most fashion forward dame but man can she fold a sheet!

Coming soon!

I will be doing a series of posts show casing some of the work of the very talented people I have come to love and admire through out my design school experience and various other connections... Designers, Artists, photographers...whatever.

These are my people.

If anyone reads this and would like to be considered for a show case spot let me know by commenting on this post.

Wes Anderson-Roman Coppola Commercial

Much to the chagrin of my husband I tend to be on the fence about Wes Anderson films- excluding, of course, Fantastic Mr. Fox which, in my humble opinion is a movie everyone should get to enjoy at least once before they die. However, one of my favorite websites posted a commercial directed by Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola- done for Stella Artois beer. And all I have to say is if all commercials were this fantastic I would make a point of watching for that commercial break!

I have tried about a million times to get the video to embed properly and show the whole screen but all I get is half screen- anyway YouTube it by looking up Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola- and look for one posted by Apartomatic. It's just over a minute long.

Enjoy!

The Best of Balmain...

Right off the bat I fell in love with the fresh faces and natural simple hair of his models their natural soft beauty in contrast to the hard edge of his spring 2011Ready-to-Wear collection give his line a sense of balance and femininity to a classic punk-grunge theme.
